Knockhill Kids Karting Club: Season Review and 2026 Preview
What is Knockhill Kids Karting Club?
Knockhill Kids Karting Club is a race series held at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife — Scotland's only full-time motorsport venue. Running from April through to October, the series gives young drivers the chance to race on a proper outdoor circuit in a relaxed and friendly environment, making it a fantastic step up from indoor arrive-and-drive karting without throwing you in at the deep end.
The series runs over seven rounds, one per month, with drivers' best six results counting towards the final standings — so one difficult day doesn't overshadow everything else you've put in. Race days at Knockhill are busy, sociable affairs, with multiple sessions running throughout the day. Joshua races in the 12+ Pro Karts category, where grids of up to 12 drivers race for 20 minutes, with the grid drawn randomly each time. It's a format that keeps things fun and unpredictable — there's no prize on offer, and the atmosphere reflects that. It's about getting track time, improving with every outing, and enjoying the experience of racing on a real circuit.
Points are awarded on a straightforward scale: 20 for a win, dropping by two points per position down the order.
How Joshua Got Involved
Joshua joined the club in January 2025, just over a year into his karting journey. Having started at Xtreme Karting Falkirk in December 2023 and joined the TeamSport Cambuslang Race Academy the following October, Knockhill offered something different: an outdoor circuit with proper corners to learn, a monthly series to build experience, and a friendly group of drivers and families to be part of.
Looking Back on 2025
Joshua competed in all seven rounds of his debut season, and it turned into a really encouraging year — not just in terms of results, but in how much he visibly grew as a driver from round to round.
Round one was always going to be a learning experience. New to the circuit, still finding his way around the track, he finished 7th. A solid start given the circumstances, but more importantly, a baseline to build from. The next two rounds brought back-to-back 4th place finishes as the track started to feel more familiar and his confidence grew.
Then things really started to come together. He won round four — his first ever race win at Knockhill — and followed it up with a 2nd, another 1st, and a 3rd to close out the season. Four podiums in his final four rounds, including two wins. It was a really pleasing way to finish the year, and a sign of just how much he'd developed since that opening round.
The progression across the season was the thing that stood out most. Knockhill is a real circuit that takes time to learn, and watching Joshua find his rhythm there over the course of the year was great to see.
What 2026 Is All About
The 2026 season kicks off this Sunday, 26th April, and the goal heading in is simply to keep that development going. There's no pressure — just a focus on enjoying the racing, making the most of every session, and seeing how much further Joshua can push himself with a full year of experience already under his belt.
After a winter away from the circuit, it'll be interesting to see how quickly things click back into place. Whatever happens on Sunday, it's just good to be back out there.
We'll be sharing updates after every round throughout the season — follow along to see how things unfold.
